Life's Random BS? or Tailor-Made Exquisitely for You?
In the wee small hours of this morning, just past midnight, I realised I was feeling incredibly unsettled, anxious, and distressed.
In the past, my first instinct would have been to binge Netflix, or chocolate, or something (anything!) to avoid being present with my deeper emotions. But I've come a long way with my 9, and I've learned to sit in the emotional flames and be tempered by them.
As I sat in the stillness, feeling into the distress, I realised that it had been exactly two years since my car accident back in 2020. The accident occurred at 12:05 am on 24 January, 2020, in my 5 Personal Year.
Wow. I may have complete amnesia of the experience, but my body remembers . . . literally to the minute. As Bessel van der Kolk's famous book says, "The Body Keeps the Score."
I thought today would be a good day to revisit the article I wrote at the time, as it looks at a couple of the fundamental principles underlying my work:
the idea that we each constellate our own charts, in perfect timing;
the awareness that one single event can result in a multitude of outcomes for the different people involved, depending on their individual natal charts; and
the fact that we can trust Life, implicitly. Yes, even when our experiences seem heart breaking, crushingly harsh, or totally "random" & beyond our control . . . like having a large wombat run in front of your car at midnight, when you're travelling on an open highway.
Today, as always, I feel so grateful for the archetypal languages of astrology and numerology. No, these languages don't make the challenges any easier. Heck, I'm still in rehab, two years later. But rather than feeling like the hapless victim of a chaotic, indifferent universe, we are gifted a level of Symbolic Sight that is otherwise inaccessible at this mundane realm.
We get to pull back the veil and see the bigger, archetypal picture in play. We realise why we constellated this particular situation or dynamic . . . and how it is asking us to intentionally lean into our own personal and spiritual growth.
We become aware that Life is wholeheartedly supporting us; transforming us. And it hits us that it'd be worse if Life's storms, Mack Trucks, and wombats never came at all. Here's a quote I love from AH Almaas on how these difficult situations are lovingly crafted for us: "Your conflicts, all the difficult things, the problematic situations in your life are not chance or haphazard. They are actually yours. They are specifically yours, designed specifically for you by a part of you that loves you more than anything else. The part of you that loves you more than anything else has created roadblocks to lead you to yourself. You are not going in the right direction unless there is something pricking you in the side, telling you, "Look here! This way!"
