Take the Lamp Shade off and Shine! February's Full Moon

.To understand February 2019's Full Moon in Virgo, you need to look back to the New Moon in Leo on 22 August 2017 … a trip down memory lane.

So, how is today's Full Moon at 0 degrees Virgo treating you? I've had a couple of people reach out and comment that today's Full Moon has been hitting them harder than most Full Moons. They've been wondering why.

I'm learning a different astrological technique, which looks at something called Moon Families. I'm finding it fascinating! I wanted to share it with you, hoping that it helps you to understand the energies in play with today's Full Moon and the bigger picture of your Life Path. I'm curious to hear how this resonates with you all??

As today's Full Moon is at 0 degrees Virgo, I invite you to pause for a moment and look back to what was unfolding in your life on 22 August, 2017.

Why??

Because the New Moon closest to the degree of this Full Moon was 18 months ago. This is how Moon Families work. Today's Full Moon was initiated, energetically, back on 22 August 2017, when the New Moon was at 28 degrees 52 minutes of Leo. The New Moon intentions seeded (albeit consciously or unconsciously) 18 months ago are now being emphasised in your life. What was going on for you, back then?? Can you reflect back via a journal entry (or Facebook posts!) perhaps??

Let's get more specific about the themes of this particular Moon Family to help us understand what is being brought to full light of consciousness, today.

(Remember, this will be more relevant for some of us than others. It depends on our natal charts, and how they're being lit up or activated. If you'd like to explore your own charts more intensely, please feel free to book a session with me. :-) )

Here we go:

Because this Moon Family was seeded in Leo (and is conjunct the star Regulus, in the heart of the Lion), it will address the matter of our Life Path itself. Why? Because the Sun rules Leo. Anything to do with the Sun and Leo in our natal charts will be central to our Life Path. This Full Moon is asking if you feel like you're on Path? Or are you worried that you somehow wandered away from your Path? Are you feeling a sense of dread that you have no idea what your Path is about?? Or are you struggling with so many options, confused as to how to make an actual choice between them all??

This Moon Family will also be activating matters of our self-love, self-actualisation, and self-esteem. It is illuminating how comfortable we are with being special and being seen by others.

What happens when you let yourself shine brightly into the world? Are you welcomed, celebrated, and encouraged? Are you confident in showing up as your full, authentic, and creative Self? Or do you feel a pressure to go back into hiding? Do you feel attacked or betrayed, and 'required' to dull yourself down so that others feel comfortable with you, as with the Tall Poppy Syndrome? Have you made progress with this over the past 18 months?? Are you ready to be seen, now? Are you putting yourself out there? Or are you still in hiding? What do you need to do (or release) in order to feel confident about shining?? (Leo is ruled by the Sun!! It is the brightest thing in our Solar System!!)

Another signification of this Moon Family is to do with your personal gifts and talents ... What do you uniquely contribute to the greater collective? Where are you special? Have you identified and developed your gifts over the past 18 months? Have you been able to decide on a particular gift to refine? Congratulations! Or have you struggled to believe you have a gift worthy of sharing? Or found it difficult to narrow your focus among competing options? Do you want to do everything ... and hence accomplish nothing of note or value?

Sorry if that sounds harsh, but if we are too scattered or indecisive with our talents - unable to choose which gift to develop or which path to take - then perhaps we will never actualise *any* of them. Perhaps we will never have anything special or worthy to offer the Tribe. We become one of those insubstantial, grey 'should've, would've, could've' people. (Shudder)

I am thinking of Steve Jobs who once said, “People think focus means saying yes to the thing you've got to focus on. But that's not what it means at all. It means saying no to the hundred other good ideas that there are. You have to pick carefully. I'm actually as proud of the things we haven't done as the things I have done. Innovation is saying no to 1,000 things.” (He was born with Pluto just a couple of degrees from Regulus, in the 12th House. He understood this energy well!)

Change of Signs - Leo to Virgo:

I bring our attention to the fact that while the New Moon was seeded in the last degrees of Leo back in 2017, the associated Full Moon has just occurred in the very beginning of Virgo. This Moon Family is blending the two signs, finding the balance between being special, self-actualised, and lovable, and being humble and of service. It is making a distinction between being gifted (Leo) and highly skilled (Virgo). Anyone can have talent (Leo). Not everyone develops it (Virgo).

1) When Leo finds it difficult to choose which gift to develop, Virgo supports us by sorting the wheat from the chaff. She discerns what has real value and meaning in our lives, and what simply detracts from our purpose. She identifies what supports and what hinders our progress. She helps us to focus so that we can stop frittering our lives away. She simplifies our lives and our choices.

2) Virgo is where we log our 10,000 hours to master our craft, our gift, to a level where it can then be offered to the greater community. Leo wants to shine and be special and known for something! Virgo can help make that happen by actually developing the necessary skills required for our talents to shine! As Will Smith says, “The separation of talent and skill is one of the greatest misunderstood concepts for people who are trying to excel, who have dreams, who want to do things. Talent you have naturally. Skill is only developed by hours and hours and hours of beating on your craft." Preach, Will! (He has FOUR planets in Virgo!)

3) Virgo's Full Moon energy may illuminate where we feel inadequate and not ready yet to share our gifts? Perhaps She is revealing where we feel a lack of confidence in our skills, or limited in our grasp of the necessary techniques and tools? Pay attention to this! She will show what we need to develop and master in order to feel confident in our world. It's good that you're aware of this ... now you can do something about it!

4) This Full Moon may also illuminate where we are being mentally cruel to ourselves (Virgo), blocking our self-love and desire to shine (Leo)? Where do our demands for perfection and purity detract from our creativity and joy? Can we learn that happy mistakes invariably lead to new ideas, new inspirations, and new forms of creativity?

Final Phase in this Moon Family:

9 months from now (20 November 2019) we will be at the waning Quarter Square of this Moon Family. This is when we'll be asked to/have the opportunity to share the wisdom, gifts, and strengths of this particular Moon Family cycle with our Tribe and the greater world around us. Of course, what we will be able to share will depend on how well we have embodied this cycle's lessons and questions. Makes sense, right??

To ensure that we have strong gifts to share by 20 November 2019, we would be wise to pay attention to what is being brought to our conscious awareness with today's Full Moon energy. What is making itself emotionally known to you? What needs to be simplified or released? What needs to be developed and mastered? Are you willing to be seen and shine brightly? To love and accept yourself? Do you feel confident that you are walking your Soul's chosen Path towards self-actualisation? Or are you plagued by worries that you haven't quite found it, yet???

Can you take some time to reflect on the journey since 22 August, 2017? Can you see connections between what was unfolding for you then, and now?

Finally, as today's Full Moon coincided with Mercury's entry into His Shadow phase, I reckon the questions raised by the Full Moon will be part of the itinerary we are receiving for His retrograde journey. (See yesterday's post.) It's worth taking some time to reflect on these questions.

Long post! Hope it has raised some helpful questions for you?? I'd love to hear of your journey over the past 18 months, in the comments below. Do you feel 'on path'?

Peace Juliette xo
